Matches

On a beautiful rugby Saturday in Houston, both Rugby HTX and the Arrows defeated the fightin' Texas Aggies' 1st and 2nd sides, respectively. Rugby HTX only narrowly edged the Aggies 26 - 19, while the Arrows were able to widen their margin on a very young Aggies 2nd side (41 - 21). The Rugby was electric and the setting was picturesque at Our Savior Lutheran of Houston's Oak Forest neighborhood. A collegiate rugby club with more than 50 years of tradition will always have a strong alumni base - Old Maroon is that base for Aggie Rugby and they turned out in force on Saturday.

Post-Match Social

Following the match, a little over 100 people - players from all three teams, their families, coaches, administrators, and supports - got together for communal fellowship. All gathered at the Northside Columbus Club (in Independence Heights), home of both KofC Council 2917 and Arrows Rugby. Burgers, Hot Dogs, fix'ns, and beer were all provided by Arrow player Sean Hanrahan and his Platypus Brewing. And the meal was prepared by Arrow Rob Carlisle (of Club Partner C+C Risk), his wife, and a bunch of mates.

Rugby HTX

Rugby HTX continue to develop local talent under the structure and operations of the Houston SaberCats, a founding member of Major League Rugby. After the signing of their new Director of Rugby, the SaberCats have released a flurry of new player signings in recent weeks in anticipation of their 2022 MLR campaign.
